Playing sports going commando?

Just how wise is it to go without some support while playing sports?  Wasn't the jock strap invented to protect that hanging anatomy?  Well, I suppose it could be used for this too, when the action on the field is over:

Well perhaps, I can understand swimming naked, but their seems to be some controversy about whether the male parts contribute to drag and slowing down the swimmer!

Well apparently some jocks think a jock-strap is unnecessary!
For example, this tennis player resting on the sideline:

Or these soccer players:

Specialized bicycle seats (shown) are even made to protect the male testicles, but it still might help to wear a jock strap:

Why is it that the younger guys never wear a jock? I rarely ever see guys put on a jock in the locker room and feel like I am flying the rainbow flag when I put mine on! Although I am married, I am about a 1.5-2.0 on the Kinsey scale. My father never let me play sports as a kid, because I "May get hurt" so I never really got to wear a jockstrap often and actually had to steal one from the sports store because I was embarrased to ask my Dad or Mom to buy me one. So I guess that kind of made the jock a fetish to me, and today always wear one when I work out. But I feel the stares from the other guys in the locker room when I put it on. To me it makes me feel masculine and actually turns me on.

So My question is for mainly the younger guys, what do you think when you see a guy in a jock? Is it a "sign" of my sexuality? Am I unknowingly professing my bi side? And why don't the young guys wear them?

After all, when you watch football or other sports, (Mainly Football) all you see is jock strap lines! So are they bi? Probably not.

I will be checking back to read your responses. Thank you

Wearing a jock doesn't make you look gay. It just makes you look old. No offense, but it probably shows your age or generation. What do younger guys wear now? Most guys I know who are playing sports for school/college wear either boxer briefs or compression shorts for games. A lot of guys who are playing sports just for fun or going to the gym will wear whatever they usually wear when they aren't playing sports. Most common for guys under 30 in the US? Boxers. Boxer briefs are probably second most common. Going commando is pretty typical now too, even while playing soccer or basketball. This last one might surprise you, but it's growing in popularity and might be almost as common as wearing boxer briefs for guys in their late teens or 20's. My advice... make sure your fetish keeps up with the times and what athletes are wearing now rather than in the 60's. Oh, and those lines you see under football shorts now are usually compression shorts or football girdles, not jocks. They have a place for a cup like a jock.
